2024 Young Researcher Prizes
Security Challenges welcomes papers from young researchers and policy makers (in academic institutions, think tanks, government, or industry) seeking to bring their ideas and evidence to bear on current policy questions.
Currently there are standing calls for papers on security policy in the South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Africa, and International Law and Security domains.
The Institute for Regional Security may award up to five (5) prizes for outstanding applied research papers by young authors published or accepted for publication in Security Challenges in 2024.
Papers authored by researchers and policy makers aged 35 years or younger at the time of submission and accepted for publication by domain editors will be considered throughout 2024. Outstanding papers will be nominated in October 2024 by editors for recognition and a cash prize of AUD$1,500 will be awarded in up to five (5) cases. Papers may be published multi-lingually as a result. Award winners will be announced in December 2024.
Papers must be submitted in accordance with journal requirements found here.
Prize criteria include: (1) originality of argument, (2) strength of the evidence base, (3) relevance and actionability of recommendations for decision-makers, (4) quality of the writing, and (5) relative merits against other nominations.
